Syngenta Crop Protection, LLC, a global leader in crop protection, has officially announced a multi-year collaboration with Taranis, the world’s leading AI-powered crop intelligence platform, to deliver Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven agronomic productivity and conservation-focused innovation at the disposal of agricultural retail partners in the US.
According to certain reports, starting in 2024/2025 and over a three-year period, the stated collaboration will conceive significant investment meant to empower agriculture retailers in their adoption of Taranis’ AI-powered agronomic platforms. This it will do to help these partners reap the value from AI-derived leaf-level remote scouting insights and generative AI (GenAI) agronomic recommendations. With such an arrangement, the pair of companies involved should be able to revolutionize ag retailer workflows, while simultaneously optimizing farm decision making, facilitating grower adoption of conservation practices, and increasing farm profitability.
“Our collaboration with Taranis underscores Syngenta’s commitment to sustainability,” said Paul Backman, head of North America Crop Protection digital agriculture & sustainable solutions. “By offering easy access to conservation tools and funding, we are making it simpler for growers to adopt sustainable practices that further preserve their legacy.”
More on the same would reveal how Syngenta will bring to the fore a solution effectively focused in the Midwest, where it will facilitate targeted retailers’ adoption of Taranis’ AI-driven intelligence platform to provide leaf-level 0.3mm/pixel resolution threat detection of weed species, insects, diseases and nutrient deficiencies. The idea behind doing so is rooted in allowing for retailers to remotely scout more acres more comprehensively, and at the same time, easily prioritize fields that require the most immediate attention.
On top of it, when paired with Ag Assistant™, the Taranis GenAI agronomy engine will help advisors generate data-driven expert agronomic recommendations that, on their part, will save time. Furthermore, the combined solution will allow these advisors to act decisively for the purpose of helping their grower-customers protect their own crops using Syngenta’s market-leading crop protection portfolio. Not just crop protection, this will also tread up a long distance when it comes to achieving yield-enhancing crop management practices that improve retailer and grower productivity, as well as profitability.
“We believe this collaboration with Taranis will help retailers tap into the full potential of AI and digital agronomy, unlocking new levels of operational efficiencies,” said Backman. “By combining Syngenta’s industry-leading portfolio with Taranis’ AI-driven insights, we empower retailers to deliver better, faster and more precise service to their grower-customers.”
Among other things, we must mention how the collaboration between Syngenta and Taranis will let retail partners offer their grower-customers an uninterrupted access of Taranis’ conservation platform through a success-based model. Making this particular feature all the more important is a fact that the platform in question helps growers access funding for adoption of conservation practices. This, upon being placed next to Taranis support, has already shown increased conservation funding success rates.
Beyond that, validation of sustainable practices is also streamlined through an automated process which seamlessly fulfills conservation reporting requirements.
“Having an instantaneous understanding of the issues and the optimal solution creates efficiencies and opportunities the industry has never seen before,” said Opher Flohr, CEO of Taranis. “This collaboration with Syngenta is a significant step forward in driving the AI revolution for production agriculture.”
As for the future, this newly-formed collaboration will try and integrate Syngenta’s Cropwise platform with Taranis’ Intelligence Service to further enhance digital agronomy solutions available. It will also cultivate greater sustainability-focused benefits, including integration of Syngenta’s Cropwise Sustainability platform with Taranis’ Conservation Service to unlock emerging market opportunities for retailers and growers created through digitally enabled conservation agronomy practices.
